Ridgegear Fall Arrest Blocks
The Ridgegear range of fall arrest blocks or self-retracting lifelines (SRL) offers a wide variety of choice, from the RGA1 which is a mini webbing (seat-belt type) personal fall arrestor with a 2.5 metre working length, to the largest in the range, the Ridgegear Defender that is available in 4 different lengths up to 20 metres.
As you would expect, all Ridgegear fall arrestors conform to the EN360 standard. However, some models (the RGA4 and RGA4H in particular) also offer a means of rescue built into the device via a retrieval/rescue winch handle. The fall arrestors with this rescue ability built in are also certified to the EN1496 standard for rescue lifting devices.
One of the fall arrest blocks that is pretty much unique to the Ridgegear brand is the RGA4H. What is unique about this fall arrestor in particular is that on the opposite side to the winching mechanism is a folding handle that is designed to be used as a steadying/holding handle whilst a rescue is being performed. Because of this unique feature, the block does not need to be permanently mounted or fixed in position (e.g. by a mounting bracket), which can often mean that the RGA4H is more suited to some confined space applications than the standard type that needs to be fixed in position to operate reliably.

Ridgegear Mini Fall Arrest Block is a retractable mini web block ideal for personal issue to operatives working at height. The unit is designed to be connected, and worn directly on a fall arrest harness. Has an almost instant "lock off" in the event of a fall, and recoils into the drum when slack is introduced into the lanyard. The reduced trip hazard and compact design make this unit ideal for tight work and tasks where a shorter arc of mobility is required.

Ridgegear 6m lightweight Fall Arrest Block is a lightweight and small multi purpose fall arrest block, which allows uninhibited movement during normal working activity. For self-connecting to the block, it is recommended that the operative uses an extension strop (RGL4) in order to ease the task. The cable can come in two different types - either 5mm Galvanized steel wire rope, or can come in 5mm stainless steel.

Ridgegear 15 metre Fall Arrest and Rescue Block With steady Handle has the benefit of an additional steadying handle. Like the RGA4, the RGA4H is a three way retrieval block fitted with an up/down winch mechanism and the standard fall arrest capability. This handle facility is most usefull when not solid mounted to a tripod or other structure. This unit can be used as a standard fall arrest block, but in the event of a fall, the operative can be winched up or down to safety almost immediately. Available in either Galvanised steel wire rope or Stainless steel wire rope.
