Chain Hoists
Chain hoists are among the most widely used pieces of lifting equipment in the industry, essential for raising and lowering machinery, materials, or equipment. They operate by lifting loads vertically with a hook attached to a chain, which can be powered manually, electrically, pneumatically, or hydraulically.
Sometimes called chain blocks, these hoists can be customised for various lifting needs. They are offered in several different formats, including manually operated by either lever (also known as a pull-lift/pul-lift or lever lifts) or by the pulling of a hand chain (hand chain hoist/block), or powered either by electric, air (pneumatic), or hydraulic.
A chain hoist or chain block can serve as a permanent fixture for regular lifting tasks in the same area or as a temporary solution for occasional lifts at different locations. All our chain-type lifting hoists are designed to be easily attached to a beam trolley, which can either be manually operated or equipped with powered travel through electric, air, or hydraulic means.
The load is typically secured to the bottom of the chain via a lifting hook block, although some manufacturers now offer alternative hoist fittings such as clevis shackles and egg links.
At LiftingSafety, we also provide various styles of wire rope hoists, which are especially useful on wind farms and construction sites (like scaffold hoists) where mobility is crucial, or in high-demand industrial settings like runway or crane bridge wire rope hoists where robust durability is necessary.
