William Hackett C4 QT Quiet Chain Block
Hacketts quiet manual chain hoist, designed specifically for areas where noise levels need to be controlled or reduced.
WH C4 QT / WHQT-5598
Manufacturing Standard: BS EN13157:2004 + AI:2009, ASME B30.16-2014, AS1418.2-1997, SANS 1594:2007, NORSOK R-002: 2017
C4 QT - The Quiet Manual Chain Hoist
The William Hackett C4 QT Chain Hoist is purpose-built for use in noise-sensitive and confined environments where controlled operation is essential.
Its patent-pending design incorporates a unique, reduced-noise braking system, delivering significantly quieter performance than conventional chain blocks. During lifting operations, the QT achieves a noise level of just 75.08 dB at a 0.75 m/min pull rate (lifting).
For added assurance, the QT has been endurance tested to twice the industry standard and is easily identifiable by a high-visibility blue stripe integrated into the hoist casing.
Introducing the QT Hoist - Engineered for Control - Safer Lifting Where Noise Matters
Designed to perform in demanding conditions, the WH C4 QT delivers powerful lifting capability with a markedly reduced acoustic profile.
Ideal for environments where communication, precision, and control are critical, the reduced-noise braking system establishes a new standard for lifting operations in noise-sensitive applications.
If you are ready to reduce noise and improve on-site safety, complete the form, and a member of our sales team will contact you to discuss your project requirements in detail.

Areas of Application
Engineered for environments where noise control is critical, the WH QT Hoist delivers a reduced sound output that supports improved operator control and clearer communication. It is particularly well-suited to enclosed or noise-sensitive settings where worker safety is a priority, including defence applications, shipping, mining, engineering laboratories, energy and nuclear facilities, as well as tunnels and confined chambers.
Manual chain hoists are primarily used for the vertical lifting and lowering of loads. The top hook is typically suspended from a beam clamp or beam trolley, which is mounted to a certified and tested beam.
Operation is via a hand chain loop: pulling clockwise raises the load, while pulling anti-clockwise lowers it. The hoist's reduction gearing and mechanical advantage allow a single operator to lift loads manually without the need for external power.
In applications where the load is not directly aligned beneath the suspension point, William Hackett chain hoists have been independently tested and verified to fleet and cross-haul at angles of up to 60 degrees without any reduction in the Working Load Limit (WLL). Chain collectors are available on request to prevent the load chain from contacting the lifted load.
Pre-use inspections and routine maintenance should always be performed, with a statutory LOLER inspection conducted every 12 months.
Specifically designed for sites where noise must be controlled, the WH QT Hoist operates at a lower sound rating, enabling greater control and easier communication. Ideal in enclosed spaces or where noise control for worker safety is paramount, including but not limited to defence applications, shipping, mining, engineering labs, energy and nuclear sites, along with tunnels and chambers.
