Lifting Equipment Identification Labels & Tags
Lifting equipment and height safety gear in the UK and worldwide must undergo regular, thorough examinations to ensure they remain safe for use. The inspection timeline for lifting gear varies based on the type of equipment, typically occurring every six (6) or twelve (12) months. Accessories for lifting equipment require inspections twice a year, while lifting machines are assessed annually.
To help users easily identify whether the equipment is still within its acceptable service period, we provide colour-coded tags. These serve as a visual cue that the equipment is generally safe to use, though it’s essential to conduct user inspections both before and after operation. Additionally, our lifting equipment identification tags are perfect for confirming that height safety and fall arrest gear are still compliant with inspection requirements.
Fall arrest equipment should be examined annually, while man-riding equipment - such as suspended rope access gear - requires inspections every six months. It’s essential to remember that these tags are merely an indication within a system designed to ensure the safety of all lifting gear and height safety equipment. The identification tags and labels form a part of this overarching safety system, but they are not the complete solution.
The thorough examination periods specified for lifting equipment represent the maximum allowed in the UK, but they may need to be adjusted based on various user factors. These could include the working environment, exposure to chemicals and UV light, frequency of use, cleanliness, the number of users, and regular user inspections, among others. Always adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines for safe operation, maintenance, and thorough examinations of lifting and fall arrest equipment.
