AC (Mains Powered) Electric Winches and Hoists
AC Electrically operated pulling winches and wire rope lifting hoists are essential for efficiently moving and lifting materials. Here at LiftingSafety, we proudly offer a wide selection from leading manufacturers such as Yale, Pfaff, Gebuwin, and Tractel, with even more brands to join our catalogue soon.
When choosing electric wire rope winches and hoists, it’s important to consider a few key factors: Will the user need the equipment for lifting or pulling materials? If the focus is on pulling, is a free-spooling drum necessary to easily and quickly pull out the cable? Also, consider the required height of lift or length of pull for your specific application. How will the winch be mounted - on the floor or wall? Is there a need for corrosion resistance or stainless steel materials?
Electric wire rope hoists are designed primarily for lifting, but after conducting a risk assessment, they may also be suitable for pulling applications. However, it's crucial to remember that electric wire rope winches may be strictly designed for pulling purposes only. The safety factor (FOS) for lifting hoists is 5:1, while for pulling winches, it is only 3:1. Therefore, using a pulling-certified winch for lifting is unsafe; always opt for a lifting-certified electric wire rope hoist for such tasks.
Additionally, keep in mind that pulling winches have varying maximum inline rated loads that depend on how many layers of wire rope are on the drum. As the wire rope gets closer to the drum's core, less effort is required to turn it, allowing for greater pulling capacity. However, as the drum fills, the pulling capacity will decrease. Electric wire rope hoists for lifting materials are always rated for the worst-case scenario to prevent any accidental overloading.
Electric Winches (AC - mains powered) for pulling, lifting and recovery are available in a wide range of styles and safe working loads.
