Portable Davit Arms
Davit arms for lifting are very similar to a jib crane, though limited in reach and capacity; they are made to order, though some of the more commonly ordered size davit arms may be available ex-stock.
Our davit arms are generally portable, though they are also often permanently installed. Most lifting davits are used outdoors and therefore are usually removable for safe storage or galvanised for corrosion protection and can be used for lifting equipment (materials) and people (man riding, fall arrest and rescue from height) depending on the model or type.
As with our swing jib cranes, our lifting davit arms rotate up to 360 degrees, depending on our customers’ needs.

A Little More About Our Steel Davit Range
Our Steel Davit Arms for lifting are very similar to a jib crane; they are made to order and therefore are usually manufactured to the customer's dimensions/specifications. Our steel davits are generally portable, though they are also often permanently installed. Most steel lifting davits are used outdoors and therefore are usually galvanised and can be used for lifting equipment (materials) and, in some cases, people (manriding and rescue from height), depending on your request at the time of order.
As with our swing jib cranes, our steel davit arms are made to order to the specifications. Some of the more commonly ordered size davit arms may be available ex-stock, but in most instances, there will be a manufacturing time.
Aluminium Davit Arm Types
Whilst our steel davits are mostly made to specification, we also have an extremely large range of standard aluminium davit systems available.
There are variants that simply have a shackle connection at the end of the arm, for a lifting device, like a chain hoist, to connect to.
Another davit style is the winch-ready or winch-capable type that has one or more pulley wheels built into the end of the arm, to allow for raising and lowering using a wire rope winch; this type is also the more predominantly used style for a fall arrest davit system.
Lastly, there is a type of davit arm which can be fitted with a trolley that allows a lifting point to be moved up and down along the length of the arm; similar to how a trolley on a jib crane would operate.
Alternative Solutions
Quite often is the case that where a davit arm system can be used, alternative solutions like an aluminium tripod or aluminium gantry could be used, for example, over a manhole.
These systems also remain truly portable, where a davit arm would be reliant on a socket being installed (or a portable counterweight base), whereas a gantry or a tripod isn't.
They can be for lifting materials or for lifting people, just as a davit arm can, but you will find that a gantry system, for example, can be capable of significantly higher capacities, or for more users in fall arrest applications.
