C4 QP Chain Hoist - Quad Pawl Manual Chain Hoist by William Hackett
The William Hackett C4 QP chain hoist is a premium manual chain hoist designed, manufactured, and proof load tested in the UK. Engineered for safety, durability, and precision lifting, the C4 QP chain hoist features patented quad pawl (QP) technology that delivers superior load control, enhanced braking performance, and increased resilience to failure in demanding industrial environments.
Ideal for engineering, manufacturing, construction, and lifting operations, the WH C4 QP chain hoist is trusted worldwide for both everyday lifting tasks and critical precision lifts.
Patented Quad Pawl Technology for Safer Lifting
At the core of the C4 QP chain hoist is William Hackett’s unique and patented four-pawl mechanical engagement system. Unlike traditional designs, all four pawls engage the ratchet gear in an offset configuration, providing:
- Finer load adjustment and tensioning
- Continuous pawl-to-ratchet engagement
- Increased redundancy and reduced risk of failure
- Improved control during precision lifts
This quad pawl system significantly enhances safety, making the C4 QP chain hoist an industry-leading solution for controlled manual lifting.
Designed for Industrial, Fleet, and Hire Use
The WH C4 QP chain hoist is perfectly suited for:
- Every day, industrial lifting
- One-off and specialist lifts
- Hire fleets and long-term site use
A full range of spare parts is available, and William Hackett also offers operator training covering safe use, inspection, and maintenance to support compliance and longevity.
Optional feature: Overload limiter available upon request.
C4 QP Chain Hoist Applications
Manual chain hoists are commonly used to lift and lower loads vertically. The C4 QP chain hoist is typically suspended from a William Hackett beam clamp or trolley, which is then attached to a tested beam or runway.
The hoist is operated using a hand chain:
- Clockwise rotation lifts the load
- Anticlockwise rotation lowers the load
Thanks to precision reduction gearing, a single operator can safely lift heavy loads manually without the need for electrical or pneumatic power.
Fleeting and Cross-Hauling Capability
When the load is not vertically aligned with the suspension point, the WH C4 QP chain hoist has been independently tested and verified for fleeting and cross-hauling applications.
- Certified up to 45° with no deration in WLL
- Independently tested to 60° from vertical (Test Report 2550-7615)
- Optional chain collectors are available to prevent load chain contact
This makes the C4 QP chain hoist ideal for complex lifting scenarios where traditional hoists may be limited.
Low Headroom and Complete Lifting Solutions
Where headroom is restricted, and standard trolley or clamp configurations are insufficient, William Hackett offers:
- Combined trolley hoists
- Ultra-low headroom C4 QP chain hoist configurations
A full range of certified lifting points is also available, allowing the hoist to be securely connected from suspension point to load for a complete lifting system.
Maintenance, Inspection, and Compliance
The C4 QP chain hoist is designed for long-term reliability when properly maintained.
- Pre-use checks should be carried out before operation
- Routine maintenance is recommended
- Statutory LOLER inspections are required every 12 months
Key Features of the C4 QP Chain Hoist
- Light Load Capability: Tested and certified at just 2% of rated capacity
- Quad Pawl (QP) System: Endurance tested to twice the industry norm
- Heavy-Duty Safety Latches: Cast steel hooks with integrated latch and hook tip
