William Hackett SS-C4 QP Ultra Low Headroom (ULH) Trolley and Hoist

The William Hackett SS-C4 QP Ultra Low Headroom (ULH) trolley and hoist is designed, manufactured, and proof load tested in the UK. It has been engineered specifically for offshore and subsea applications where durability, reliability, and minimal headroom are critical.

At the core of the system is the patented Quad Pawl (QP) mechanism. Unlike conventional designs, the offset configuration enables all four pawls to engage simultaneously with the ratchet gear. This arrangement provides finer load control and tensioning accuracy while maintaining continuous pawl-to-ratchet engagement. The result is enhanced operational precision and improved resilience to mechanical failure.

The hoist is integrated with a beam-mounted trolley assembly and has been developed for operation in confined environments where vertical clearance is severely restricted.

A comprehensive range of spare parts is available, along with certified training covering safe operation and inspection procedures.

Outline Specifications

  • WLL Range: 1t - 20t
  • Proof Load Test: 1.5 x WLL
  • Safety Factor: 4:1
  • Temp Range: -30°C to +120°C

Key Hoist Features

  • Ultra-low headroom configuration for installations with restricted vertical clearance
  • Fitted with the WH SS-C4 QP Quad Pawl offshore chain hoist
  • Marine-grade corrosion protection in accordance with ISO 12944 – Category C5
  • Grade 8 lifting points are positioned at each corner of the ULH hoist body to assist safe manual handling
  • Grade 8 calibrated load chain compliant with EN 818-7
  • Bottom hook stamped with manufacturer identification mark “HA” and full traceability code
  • Trolley available with universal, flat, or tapered wheels upon request
  • Integrated anti-drop and anti-tilt safety features are incorporated into the trolley design

Trolley Hoist Applications

The Ultra Low Headroom Hoist is the preferred solution when maximum lifting height must be achieved within limited vertical space. Its compact profile allows the hoist to be mounted directly to a beam, optimising available lift height.

In situations where obstructions restrict travel clearance, and headroom is constrained, the ULH configuration enables maximum achievable lift—down to the last millimetre—ensuring safe passage and operational efficiency.

Typical applications include:

  • Runway beam systems in manufacturing facilities
  • Offshore platforms and marine installations
  • Confined industrial environments requiring precision lifting
