The Reid Porta-Davit is a rapidly deployable, lightweight lifting system that offers a working load limit of up to 1000kg and can be easily rotated 360 degrees under a full load. The system can be operated by just one person and can support both goods and personnel lifting.
The Porta-Davit comes in three main configurations; the PD500S which has shackle lifting points only - The PD500S is not winch bracket capable, nor does it have any pulleys on the head; the second version is the PD500W, which is a winch-capable version of the davit that includes a rigid backstay. The backstay has been designed to adopt a variety of winch brackets, for either materials lifting, personnel lifting or fall protection and/or rescue, or in some instances, for the lifting of materials or people using the same winch (e.g. the Globestock Winch is certified for both the lifting of materials or personnel). The third and last porta-davit design is the PD1000, which is a 1000kg model, however just like the PD500S, this is not winch capable, so lifting, man-riding and fall arrest devices must attach directly onto one of the two shackles at the head of the davit arm.

- Winch capable - Brackets available to suit Pfaff LB900/LB1200 (materials/goods lifting), Globestock Winch (man-riding/rescue or materials lifting), Globestock Saver 14m, 25 and 30 metre fall arrest recovery/rescue blocks and Tractel Blocfor R (fall arrestor with retrieval/rescue blocks - though Tractel brackets are currently being redesigned).
