What is a load arrestor?

A load arrestor is pretty much a block that has a lot in common with regular safety blocks. The big difference is that Load Arrestors are built and designed to arrest loads instead of people.
In other words Load Arrestors are used as a backup safety system which provides independant protection that will arrest the fall of a load in the event of the primary systems failing, it reduces the risk of equipment damage and protects personnel in and around the danger zone.

The Load Arrestors are available from 200kg up to 4000kg and in length from 2.5 metres upto 30 metres. By using a pulley the load can be double at the expence of the active wire length.
The load is secured to the Load Arrestor by a wire cable. The wire cable is attached to a spring loaded wire drum, keeping the wire under constant light tension. If a fall occurs or the wire speed exceeds 0.5m/sec, a brake mechanism engages and stops the load within approximately 0.5 metres

In any industry, you will find lots of lifting devices that could lose their load in case of a broken chain, motor axel, etc. The same goes with safety doors, nuclear plants, heavy tools hanging in balance blocks etc. Load Arrestors can be used in almost unlimited situations. They give the customer a second safety backup and ensure that personnel or loads are not risked in a fall.
