The Green Pin® Bow Shackle SCP is a standard bow shackle featuring a slimmer shackle screw bolt with a cotter pin. The compact design of this slim shackle makes it particularly suitable for lifting operations in restricted or hard-to-access areas for load connection. Therefore, allowing quicker installation and dismantling during repeated, routine lifts. The shackle offers double safety (screw bolt and cotter pin), preventing accidental unscrewing of the bolt while requiring fewer components compared to conventional safety bolt bow shackles with a nut and bolt.
The reduced number of components, combined with the screw bolt design, minimises the risk of dropped or lost parts during installation and use. The galvanised body and pin ensure long-term durability against corrosion and other harsh environmental conditions. Thanks to its unique screw bolt design, the Green Pin® Bow Shackle SCP combines the benefits of both screw pin and safety bolt bow shackles, providing a higher level of safety for general lifting, pulling, and load securing operations, including situations where side loading may occur. The Green Pin® Bow Shackle SCP is available in a range with a working load limit from 4.75 up to 9.5 t and is suitable for use in sectors such as energy, construction, maintenance, offshore, and onshore.

Green Pin® is proud to introduce the new Green Pin® Bow Shackle SCP. This compact ‘Slim Shackle’ is designed to make lifting operations safer and more efficient, particularly where space and accessibility are important considerations.
The idea for the Slim Shackle originated from a practical challenge identified by Aleksandr Ometov, Technical Trainer at Green Pin®. In lifting operations, there are traditionally two common choices when it comes to securing a shackle: a standard screw pin shackle, which is quick and simple to use, or a shackle with a (bolt) nut and cotter pin, which provides additional security but involves more components. Aleksandr saw an opportunity to combine the advantages of both products.
“The main driver behind this project was finding the sweet spot between speed and safety. A standard screw pin shackle is fast and simple because it consists of just two parts, but it lacks a secondary safety feature. A safety bolt shackle provides that additional security, but handling the extra components can slow things down and increase the potential drop-object risk.”
The result is the Green Pin® Bow Shackle SCP, which combines the simplicity of a screw pin shackle with the added security of a cotter pin. The screw bolt is screwed directly into the shackle body and secured with a cotter pin, providing double safety with only three components.
A Slimmer, More Compact Design
As the name suggests, one of the key features of the Slim Shackle is its slimmer and more compact design. The screw bolt sits within the width of the shackle body, creating a clean and streamlined profile that is less likely to snag and easier to handle in confined or hard-to-access spaces. This reduced profile was an important part of the development. As explained: “On top of that, the slim pin profile sits flush within the body width, keeping the whole setup clean, compact and snag-free in tight spots. This means the shackle can be used in areas with limited access where standard solutions may not work.”
Developed for Practical Applications
The Slim Shackle is designed for general lifting, pulling and load-securing applications, including side loading. It is made from high-tensile Grade 6 steel, quenched and tempered, and is hot-dip galvanised for long-term durability.
The Slim Shackle is available with a Working Load Limit (WLL) from 4.75 to 9.5 t, with a Minimum Breaking Load (MBL) of 6 times the WLL. It is suitable for temperatures ranging from -40°C to +200°C and complies with EN 13889 as well as the performance requirements of US Fed. Spec. RR-C-271, Type IVA, Class 3, Grade A.
The first feedback from the market has been positive, with companies using screw pin shackles showing interest in the new design because of its combination of double safety, fewer components and compact dimensions. Interest has also come from applications where the shackle will be integrated into new lifting equipment and used in environments where accessibility is limited.
