SELS offer this workshop crane as a brand new product for which drawings will be issued for approval on receipt of a purchase order. This is based on our extra heavy duty workshop floor crane though has been modified so that the vertical jib column can be rotated through 180 degrees to create a counterbalanced floor crane. Before use as a counterbalance floor crane the weights must be fitted to give the stability required. The main role of this crane is with the jib arm facing forwards (above the vertical legs) and only for occasional use as a counterbalanced floor crane; a purpose designed counterweight crane should be purchased if this is the primary role.

This is a heavy duty floor crane modified so that the jib arm protrudes (sticks out) further than the end of the forward facing stability feet. This is possible by adding counterbalance weight to the rear of the crane chassis. Each crane is designed for a specific application with dimensions and SWL to customers specification. There are many additional features that can be built onto this type of workshop crane including a rotating jib arm that will articulate (15 degrees left or right). This is our standard range of heavy duty floor / workshop cranes adapted to be pulled by a vehicle. Mainly used to transport within a works (on site) though we also supply fully road legal for towing behind a car or van on the public highway. There are two sets of wheels fitted to the rear of the crane, a small set of load bearing castors for performing the lift and a pair of road legal pneumatic tyres for towing behind a vehicle. As the crane is tilted back to put on to the tow bar the small set of castors automatically come off the floor. Optional mudguards, lighting board and jockey wheel dependant on whether the crane is going to be used on site or highway towed.

General Information on our workshop floor cranes, Counterbalance and Engine Cranes
These are truly portable floor cranes and are used in many industries, they are suitable for heavy duty industrial or commercial use, Most are manufactured in the UK, one in Germany and a budget crane by Yale. Standard capacities are up to 5000kg. We offer special and bespoke designs available to customers specification (optional hook heights, jib heights/reach, body sizes, safe working loads etc...) and can supply our floor cranes with 'fork truck' style vertical lift mast, with pallet forks tynes, drum lifting/turning equipment.
Safety is paramount, our floor cranes meet all international safety standards, they are of a Robust construction, designed to last with many cranes still in service after more than 20 years. (All Welded construction for quality and strength).
- All UK made models feature a heavy duty, double-acting pump for fast action and are fitted with a safety relief valve to prevent overload with top quality hydraulics fitted with chrome plated piston rod on ram and pump that are also made in the UK (Precision built hydraulic ram and hand pump) or electric power pump.
- UK manufactured cranes have been individually tested to 125% the SWL and supplied with a Test certificate / letter of conformity.
- Special designs with anti sparking features for offshore use in ATEX controlled areas, from stainless steel for ultimate corrosion resistance or suitability for use in the pharmaceutical or food industry and painting can be to the customers specification
- To assist manual handling our floor cranes can be supplied with electric powered lift and counterbalance cranes with and articulating jib with 30 degree of slew (15 degrees either direction of centre)
- Most of our floor cranes we can make from stainless steel for when corrosion resistance is required and with spark resistant features for potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Being responsible for design and manufacture on most of our cranes means we offer special bespoke designs to help solve your manual issues; we can modify we crane SWL (capacity) to suit your specification.
Cranes can be supplied fully customisable which means if you need a special application floor crane and we don't already have one to suit, we can have one custom built to suit your specific purpose. Along with the cranes being fully customisable they are all also available in stainless steel and offshore painted.
There are a variety of other common features which can be supplied such as spark resistant, adjustable, winching devices, power travelling, fork truck and sling lifting point to mention a few.
Most of the Floor cranes that we have priced on our web site are generally our ‘standard products’; items that have already been produced many times previously and can be duplicated quickly and relatively easily with profiles, templates and steel sections that are either kept on stock or quickly produced and jigs that are already are in place to ensure the quickest possible build time (more of a production item that an outright special). For these standard items we already have already produced the quality file necessary for CE marking, the EC Declaration of conformity. For this reason we can offer our standard floor cranes online at what are effectively discounted prices!
Our special / bespoke workshop cranes are more costly compared to standard products though for these we need to invest a great deal of extra time and resources in design, development, manufacturing, testing and commissioning. All Special workshop cranes must have a quality file produced for the CE marking and for the crane to be issues with an EC Declaration; this creates unavoidable additional costs, for example drawing, calculations etc... We are committed to quality from concept to manufacture!
